The sound on your computer allows you to play music, enjoy your favorite movies and have a richer overall experience, but only if the volume is at the proper level. Since different websites, movies and songs can require different volume setting, it is important to know how to adjust those settings quickly.

If your computer uses the Windows 7 operating system, the sound settings are located conveniently within the control panel. To use the control panel to adjust the volume settings on your Windows 7 computer, just follow these simple steps.
1. Click the Start button
2. Choose Control Panel from the menu
3. Double-click the Sound icon
4. Use the slider bar to adjust the volume up or down
5. Play the song, movie or other file, then use the slider to readjust the sound if need be
6. Click the Mute button to turn off the sound completely

You can also easily adjust the volume on your Windows 7 computer by right-clicking the speaker icon in the system tray and choosing the Volume option.
