Windows 7 Tips and Tricks - How to Change Your Default Startup Folder

If your computer runs the Windows 7 operating system, Windows Explorer will use the Libraries view to display your files and folders. This can be convenient for many users, but others may wish that Windows Explorer opened up to another folder.

If you use a particular folder often, you can set that folder as your default under Windows 7. To reset your default folder in Windows 7, just follow these simple steps.
1. Hold the Shift key down and right-click the Explorer icon.
2. Choose Properties.
3. Click the Shortcut tab.
4. Type the path to the folder you want to use into the Target field. You can also use the Browse button to navigate to the folder you want to use.
5. Close Windows Explorer when you are done making your choices.

You can use this trick to control the way Windows 7 saves your files. That makes your files easier to find, and easier to back up using your favorite backup utility or online backup service.
