Your computer has a unique name that helps to identify it on your home network and on the Internet. When you troubleshoot your computer, the service technician may ask you for the name of your PC.

It is easy enough to find your computer name when you run the Windows 7 operating system. Just use these simple steps to find the name of your Windows 7 computer.
1. Click the Start button
2. Choose Control Panel from the menu
3. Double-click the System and Maintenance section
4. Double-click the System icon
5. Click the Computer Name tab

From the computer name section you can also check or change the domain or workgroup the computer is in. That allows your PC to work with the network at your office or work as part of a group of like machines.
