Windows 7 Tips and Tricks - How to Get Rid of the Clutter on Your Desktop

One of the hallmarks of Windows 7 is that it makes multitasking so easy. But that simple multitasking can have a downside as well. If you find yourself often running many different programs at the same time, you may also find that your desktop gets quite cluttered.

This clutter can be quite counterproductive, especially if you need to minimize or close some windows just to find the program you want. Minimizing those windows can take a lot of time, and closing them defeats the whole purpose of multitasking.

Fortunately, there is a simple way to reduce the clutter on your Windows 7 desktop without impacting your ability to multitask. To clean up your Windows 7 desktop and get rid of the clutter, just follow these steps.
1. Choose the window you want to remain active
2. Click the title bar of that window
3. Use your mouse to shake the title bar back and forth until all of the other windows are minimized

You can also press the Windows key and the Home key at the same time to minimize every window except the one you are working on. This little known "shake" feature of Windows 7 can be extremely useful, especially if you love to keep a large number of programs and projects open at the same time.
